Job description: Air Quality Technician
Job Type: Full-time
Work Location: Nanaimo/Cowichan Valley
Compensation: $40-50/hr
Overview:
ECO2 Environmental is a rapidly growing organization specializing in industrial air emissions testing throughout BC and Alberta. We are seeking to fill an Air Quality Technician position that would, ideally, transition into a management position. The ideal candidate would be one that is willing to conduct many of the various duties within the organization. Positive attitude/demeanour, willingness to learn, ability to perform a wide variety of tasks, and physical fitness are the most important attributes we're seeking and are more important than direct experience in the industry. Education can be provided to the right individual.
Duties:
• Assist in laboratory ISO 17025 certification and maintenance
• Travel to industrial facilities to conduct air quality testing throughout BC and Alberta
• Travel to various ambient air stations and meteorological stations to perform calibrations and maintenance
• Utilize laboratory equipment and techniques for accurate data collection and analysis.
• Apply mechanical and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot field equipment issues
• Calibration, fixing, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
• Construction of ambient air stations and various small buildings
• Heavy lifting and working at heights is required
Qualifications:
• Laboratory experience with a familiarity with quality control processes is a plus
• A degree in environmental science, chemistry, or chemical engineering is a plus, but not required
• Experience in carpentry/electrical is a plus
• Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word is a plus
• Class 5 driver's license is a requirement
• Ability to travel 1-3 weeks per month (based on client needs)
• Candidate will need to live in or relocate to Nanaimo/Cowichan Valley
• Excellent communication skills to maintain client relationships
• Punctuality is extremely important
